How Care Starts

Your family needs care now - not in three weeks after an intake queue.

No referral. No waitlist. You tell us what’s happening, we build the plan, match a caregiver, and start care within 48 hours. Everything is structured and transparent before anything begins - because families in crisis don’t have time for uncertainty.

Step 1

Free consultation - 20 to 30 minutes

This isn't a sales call. It's a proper conversation with a care coordinator who asks the questions most agencies skip:

  • Your parent's daily routine - What does a typical morning and evening look like? What's becoming difficult?
  • Physical and cognitive needs - Mobility challenges, memory changes, chronic conditions, post-surgery recovery
  • What's already been tried - OHIP-funded care, other agencies, family caregiver arrangements that are no longer sustainable
  • Schedule and frequency - A few hours a week? Daily? Overnight? We build around your family's reality
  • Location - We confirm whether we can reliably staff your specific community before going further

If we're not the right fit for your situation, we'll tell you. If care isn't needed yet, we'll say so. We do this every day - we'd rather be honest than waste your time.

Step 2

Care plan and caregiver match

Based on the consultation, we build a written care plan that covers:

  • Services included - Exactly what care will be provided during each visit
  • Schedule - Days, times, and duration confirmed
  • Caregiver match - A caregiver selected based on your parent's specific needs, personality, and geographic area - not whoever is available
  • Clear care structure - Everything included in your plan, explained in writing. No surprises.

You review everything. You ask questions. You approve the plan before care starts. Nothing begins until you're satisfied with every detail.

No contracts. No minimum commitment. No cancellation fees.

Step 3

Care begins - same caregiver, every visit

Your caregiver arrives for the first visit fully briefed on your parent's care plan, routine, and preferences. They don't need your parent to explain everything from scratch.

From the first visit forward:

  • Same caregiver, every visit - One primary caregiver assigned. Not a rotating roster.
  • After-visit updates - You receive a clear summary: what happened, how your parent was, if anything needs attention
  • No surprise substitutions - If your caregiver is ever unavailable, you're notified in advance and a briefed backup is arranged
  • Schedule reliability - Your caregiver arrives when expected. If anything changes, you hear first.

Step 4

Ongoing support - your care plan evolves because needs don't stay the same

Home care needs change. Recovery progresses. Conditions evolve. This is where most agencies disappear. We don't just provide care - we coordinate it. Your care coordinator stays in regular contact to adjust the plan before small concerns become real problems:

Regular check-ins

Proactive conversations about how care is going - not just when a problem comes up. We adjust hours, services, and scheduling before small issues become big ones.

One point of contact

You have one dedicated care coordinator who knows your family's situation. Not a call centre. Not a different person every time. The same coordinator, the same caregiver, the same accountability.

Transparent communication

Schedule changes communicated in advance. Rate adjustments explained before they take effect. After-visit updates sent without you having to ask. No surprises, ever.

Common questions

What families ask about our process

How long does it take to start care?

Most families have care in place within 24-48 hours. We do the consultation, build the plan, match the caregiver, and confirm the schedule - all within that window. Many families call after a hospital discharge or when care needs increase suddenly - we coordinate support so transitions feel stable. For urgent situations, call us directly.

Do I need a doctor's referral?

No. Aviora is a private home care provider. No doctor's referral, no CCAC application, no Ontario Health atHome intake. You contact us directly and care starts when you're ready.

Is there a contract or minimum commitment?

No contracts, no minimum hours, no cancellation fees. If Aviora isn't working for your family, you can end the arrangement at any time. We'd rather you be free to leave than trapped in a service that isn't right.

How is the care plan structured?

Every care plan is tailored to your situation - level of support, schedule, and location. During your free consultation, we walk through exactly what's included and how care is structured. You review the full plan before anything begins. Learn how care is structured.

What if I need to change the schedule later?

Schedule adjustments are expected and easy. As your parent's needs evolve, we adjust the care plan: more hours, different times, additional services. Your care coordinator handles everything. Changes are communicated clearly before they take effect.

Ready to see how this works for your family?

We walk families through this every day - including after hospital discharges and when care needs suddenly become more complex. Free consultation. No commitment. Honest answers about your specific situation and coverage. Care confirmed in 24-48 hours.
